The International Rescue Committee and Relief International carried out a multi-sector assessment to understand the urgent needs of Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh. Only the second needs assessment of the Rohingya refugee crisis to be completed, it reveals the scale of the crisis faced by the estimated half a million people arriving in Bangladesh, fleeing conflict in Rakhine State. read more

"EXODI is an interactive web map built using the testimonies of 2,600 migrants from Sub-Saharan Africa collected over four years of activity (2014-2017) by the operators and volunteers of Medici per i Diritti Umani/Doctors for Human Rights (Medu)."

Amnesty Report: Forced back to danger - Asylum-seekers returned from Europe to Afghanistan
"European governments return nearly 10,000 Afghans to risk of death and torture. At a time when civilian casualties in Afghanistan are at their highest levels on record, the new report says, European governments are forcing increasing numbers of asylum-seekers back to the dangers from which they fled, in brazen violation of international law. The new report, Forced Back to Danger: Asylum-Seekers Returned from Europe to Afghanistan, details harrowing cases of Afghans who have been returned from Norway, the Netherlands, Sweden and Germany only to be killed, injured in bomb attacks, or left to live in constant fear of being persecuted for their sexual orientation or conversion to Christianity."

Situation of Readmitted Migrants and Refugees from Greece to Turkey under the EU-Turkey Statement
After intensive negotiations between EU member states and Turkey between November 2015 and March 2016, EU and Turkey released a Statement on March 18, 2016 indicating their willingness to increase the cooperation to stop irregular migration to Europe. Little is known about the conditions of the migrants and refugees who were readmitted from Greece to Turkey after the EU-Turkey Statement. To fill this gap of knowledge from the field and have a better understanding of the effects of the Statement, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam Migration Law Section conducted a research in the field. read more

Refugees at heightened risk of refoulement under Turkey’s state of emergency
Amnesty International is concerned that Turkey has become an even less safe space for refugees and asylum-seekers since the coup attempt on 15 July 2016. Safeguards against being sent to other countries where they face a risk of serious human rights violations have been drastically reduced as part of the measures adopted under the state of emergency in place following the failed coup. The state of emergency has been extended three times following the initial three-month period announced on 20 July 2016. It is currently due to run until 19 October 2017. Government spokespeople have indicated that it will be extended further beyond this date. Turkey can not be concluded a safe country for asylum seekers. This fact is underlined by reported cases of refoulments to Syria. read more

Rapporto di monitoraggio lungo la rotta del Brennero di "Antenne Migranti" e ASGI
Il rapporto, frutto della collaborazione tra Antenne Migranti e l'Associazione per gli Studi Giuridici sull'Immigrazione, costituisce una puntuale analisi della situazione dei migranti che giungono a Bolzano per presentare domanda di protezione internazionale o nel tentativo di oltrepassare il confine del Brennero e delle connessioni e ripercussioni della chiusura del confine sul territorio.
Il progetto di monitoraggio “Antenne Migranti” prende avvio nel gennaio 2017 come
seguito di un'esperienza di monitoraggio sul confine del Brennero iniziata nel 2014.
Scopo del progetto è di monitorare i diritti delle persone migranti lungo la cosiddetta
“rotta del Brennero” e prevenire la loro violazione.
Il rapporto di monitoraggio è strutturato in due parti. La prima parte è frutto del lavoro di osservazione diretta dei volontari del progetto Antenne Migranti nelle stazioni di Brennero e Bolzano e in luoghi sensibili della città di Bolzano. Nella seconda parte viene effettuata da ASGI un'analisi giuridica delle violazioni riscontrate nei vari ambiti del monitoraggio con l'indicazione di quali sarebbero le procedure corrette da rispettare. read more

Greece: anti-torture committee criticises treatment of irregular migrants and the continued detention of migrant children
In a report on its April and July 2016 visits to Greece, published today, the Council of Europe's Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT) raises concerns over the situation in the “hotspots” on the Aegean islands and is highly critical of the continued immigration detention of unaccompanied children. read more
