The Palestinian community in Greek Cyprus have reached a final agreement with the authorities which has effectively ended a stalemate for the Palestinian refugees who have fled the Yarmouk refugee camp in Syria. The Cypriot government will allow refugees to stay in a camp near Nicosia until Tuesday where they will be then moved to a more permanent camp. read more

Yemeni security officials say 17 African migrants drowned off Yemen’s shores when their boat carrying dozens capsized off the western coast. Officials said on Monday that the incident took place near the Bab-el-Mandeb strait. A total of 49 migrants were aboard the boat, they said. Most of the migrants were Ethiopian and Somalian. Nach Angaben des Europäischen Parlaments wird eine Beitragserhöhung der Mitgliedstaaten für die Agentur gefordert. Das Frontex Budget liegt für 2015 bei 114 Millionen Euro (im Vergleich zu 97 Millionen Euro im Vorjahr). 72% des Budgets sind für operative Maßnahmen vorgesehen. Frontex kauft sebst kein Equipment. Dies wird von den EU-Mitgliedsstaaten zur Verfügung gestellt. Frontex sammelt Daten und organisiert Rückführungen von Flüchtlingen. Die Frontex Einsätze im Mittelmeer sind umstritten. read more
