The new European Pact on Migration and Asylum as a mechanism of marginalization and exclusion
How can the new EU Migration Pact be understood beyond political slogans? This article takes a critical look at the gap between the aspirations and reality of European border policy – and shows how control, externalisation and legal grey areas have concrete impacts on the lives of people fleeing their homes. Chiara Denaro’s article (Maldusa, for “Sicily Monitoring”) examines the practical implementation of the reforms and asks how people on the move can continue to be supported in exercising their right to freedom of movement.
