The Colibri 2 civil observation aircraft grounded for 20 days: we contest and raise the alarm over this decision
On September 5, 2025, our aircraft, the Colibri 2, was grounded for 20 days by the Italian authorities. This detention is accompanied by an exorbitant financial penalty of 100,000 euros. This procedure is part of a worrying trend: the systematic criminalization of civilian actors engaged in sea search and rescue. In just a few months, our partners Mediterranea Saving Humans, RESQSHIP, Sea-Eye, Sea-Watch, and Compass Collective have already seen their ships or aircraft detained and their missions hindered by arbitrary fines.
