Rejected refugees in Görlitz: On the border of legality
A group of people from Yemen was picked up by the police in Görlitz, where the Neisse River separates Poland and Germany, and sent back to Poland. In Saxony and Brandenburg, some of these cases are now known. Activists and refugee councils point to legalized pushbacks, since according to the Geneva Convention on Refugees, the right to asylum exists and must always be checked upon entry. read more
