The ECHR blasts Malta’s detention regime (again)
The European Court of Human Rights has ruled against Malta in the case of J.B. and Others v Malta, criticising the country's treatment of asylum-seeking children. The case concerned six applicants, five of them children, who were detained for 182 days in poor conditions. The court condemned Malta for detaining minors with adults and providing them with inadequate care. It also criticised the ineffective remedies for human rights violations in Malta and called for reforms to bring the country into line with human rights standards. read more
