Libyan coast guard fires on private sea rescuers – apparently from a boat financed by EU funds

The Libyan coast guard is known for its brutal treatment of private sea rescue boats. Over the weekend, however, it apparently fired live ammunition at a rescue ship. Our research shows that it appears to have obtained the boat used for this operation from Italy with EU support. read more
