Frontex wants helicopters

The European Border Agency Frontex now wants to deploy helicopters in addition to aircraft and drones. The call for tenders is to be made up this year and the rotorcraft will then be procured next year. The new rotorcrafts are to be used in areas where there are no suitable landing sites for aircrafts and drones. The place of operation could therefore be the Evros, the border river between Greece and Turkey. In the region, refugees are regularly pushed back to Turkish regions. So far, the "Poseidon" land mission, an airship tethered to a 1,000-meter cable, has been operating in the region. read more
