One year of humanitarian crisis on the Belarus-EU border
A year ago, the humanitarian crisis at the EU's external borders with Belarus escalated. To date, 23 deaths from the border area have been officially documented and humanitarian organisations reported 187 missing persons at the end of June. From September 2021 to June 2022, the Polish government set up a restricted zone along the more than 400-kilometre-long border with Belarus, covering almost 200 localities and blocking access to it for Humanitarian Organisations and the media.
