Significantly fewer asylum applications in Germany

The number of asylum applications in Germany decreased significantly in the first half of the year. This is due to new border controls, measures taken by Balkan states to reduce irregular migration, changes in the political situation in Syria, and the revocation of protection status for some Syrians in Germany.
