Violent Borders - Tales of women refugees in Serbia
The Balkan route is still a hotbed for many refugees waiting to receive their asylum statuses for months, most of whom are women and children. While at the same time, the general political climate in Europe towards migrants is worsening. The documentary Violent Borders shows the reality of what's happening to refugees in Serbia. While their lives are put on hold, they are often victims of police violence and at the mercy of smugglers. The region has the risk of becoming the new Calais Jungle.
