EU-Operation Triton: Eine Sterbebeobachtungsoperation. Mit Trauer und Empörung reagiert PRO ASYL auf das Sterben von Bootsflüchtlingen vor Lampedusa. Nach Angaben des UNHCR sind heute möglicherweise hunderte Schutzsuchende gestorben. „Europa muss umgehend einen zivilen europäischen Seenotrettungsdienst einrichten“, fordert Günter Burkhardt, Geschäftsführer von PRO ASYL. „Deutschland darf nicht wegsehen, es braucht Schiffe, Technik und Personal. Wovor PRO ASYL gewarnt hat, Unionspolitiker betreiben es. Nachdem man bereits im letzten Jahr Bosnien & Herzegowina, Mazedonien und Serbien ohne ausreichende Prüfung der menschenrechtlichen Verhältnisse auf die Liste der sogenannten „sicheren Herkunftsstaaten“ gesetzt und so die bereits laufenden Abschiebungen legitimiert hatte, möchte man die Methode mit Montenegro, Kosovo und Albanien fortschreiben. PRO ASYL warnt erneut: Künftig würden dann wohl alle Halbjahre drei oder vier neue angeblich sichere Herkunftsstaaten präsentiert, bevorzugt solche, die dann aktuell beim Bundesamt für Migration und Flüchtlinge bei den Antragszahlen vorne stehen. read more
