Sudan: as war rages, UN extends human rights investigations
On October 6, 2025, the United Nations Human Rights Council passed a new resolution on Sudan. The resolution extends the Fact-Finding Mission by one year to continue investigating ongoing crime. It condemns human rights and international humanitarian rights violations and points to "clear parallels" of the developments to violations and abuses in Darfur. Furthermore, it condemns the the ongoing escalation of violence and strengthens public reporting and debates. However, it failed to extend the Fact-finding mission for two years and to give recommendations to the UN Security Council. read more
