The Swedish government commission of inquiry presented a legal proposal destabilising the legal status of non-citizens. The law, presented late September 2025, turns effectively “permanent” residence permits into “until further notice” ones. Not only does the proposal undermines individual rights, it signals very clearly to residents on asylum-related grounds: they are not welcome to stay. read more
