Western Mediterranean arrivals increase even as EU arrivals fall

The Western Mediterranean route recorded 7,860 irregular crossings between January and June, up 17 percent year-on-year. On July 15, the border fence between Gibraltar and Spain was also dismantled. Most arrivals on this route came from Algeria, Mali, and Morocco. read more
