When so many people in Turkey see at least some responsibility for the massacre that took place in Ankara in those that govern us due, for one, to their leniency towards ISIS, we ask Prime Minister Merkel not to award them money and legitimacy in return for keeping this refugee crisis 'under control'. We call upon women's organizations in Germany and the international public at large to prevent this deal. As European Union leaders seek to boost cooperation in tackling a major refugee crisis, there has been more tragedy in the Aegean with at least 16 migrants drowning in their attempt to get to Greece from Turkey.In one incident late on Friday, the bodies of four children – three girls, aged 5, 9 and 16, and a 2-year-old boy – were discovered by the Greek coast guard off Kalymnos. read more

Frontex, the border agency charged with European external border management, has released data claiming 710,000 migrants entered the EU between January and September this year. According to the agency, this represents an “unprecedented inflow of people”, offering as a comparison data from last year, when 282,000 entries were recorded in total. They are also significantly higher than data published recently by the UN and the International Organization for Migration on the number of people entering the EU irregularly by the sea. These showed 590,000 estimated arrivals. read more

Four migrants, three of them children, died Thursday near the Greek island of Lesvos after their boat collided with a Greek rescue vessel, the coastguard said. Another 31 people of undisclosed nationality were rescued, the coastguard said. Officials say an investigation was ordered to determine how the 30-metre (100-foot) patrol vessel collided with the migrant boat.
