32 organisations demand the immediate ending of the systematic obstruction of non-governmental search and rescue (SAR) efforts by the Italian state. On the evening of July 11, 27 people arrived at Favaloro Pier. The 27 survivors told us about their journey to Europe. We tried to reconstruct what happened, amplifying their testimonies to denounce the violence of the European border regime, which once again caused the death or disappearance of people who tried to defy it. In this particular case, the Italian authorities were on the ground and could have at least prevented this violent refoulement from happening. read more

These changes would put Germany in third place behind Spain and France, which are in first and second place, respectively, in terms of asylum applications. read more
