Griechenland: Weil ein 58-jähriger Familienvater seinen Töchtern nach Berlin folgen wollte, drohen ihm 100 Jahre Haft
For trying to follow his daughters to Berlin, H. Sabetara from Iran will stand trial in Thessaloniki, Greece, on 26 September. The court date has already been postponed three times since May 2022 and the 58-year-old father of two has been in prison without a trial since September 2021. His daughters had previously been able to leave Iran with the help of a student visa. As this route was blocked for him, Sabetara paid a smuggler who left him and other passengers alone at the border between Turkey and northern Greece. Because Sabetara drove a car inland, he was arrested for smuggling. For this, he faces 100 years in prison.
